Woman hacked to death with khukuri in Rautahat, suspect beaten by locals

RAUTAHAT, July 24: A woman was killed in a khukuri attack in Rautahat district on Friday morning, police said.



The victim has been identified as Renu Devi Jaiswal, approximately 40–45 years old, wife of local resident Chandeshwar Sah Kalwar of Hariharpur Tole, Gujara Municipality-5.

According to the District Police Office, Rautahat, the attack occurred at around 10:30 a.m. Police said Upendra Sah Kalwar, approximately 35, originally from Itahar Belahi Tole in Karaiyamai Rural Municipality-8 of Bara and currently residing in Hariharpur Tole, allegedly attacked the woman with a sharp-edged khukuri.


Renu Devi sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.


Following the incident, enraged locals assaulted the suspect, leaving him seriously injured. He is currently undergoing treatment at Chandrapur Hospital in Chandranigahapur.


Police said the motive behind the attack has not yet been established. A police team has reached the scene to collect evidence, and further investigation is underway.
