MUSTANG, July 10: Sixteen people including 10 Indian nationals died of high altitude sickness in Mustang district during the fiscal year 2025/26.
According to Province Hospital Jomsom, 10 Indians, five Nepalis and one Mexican lost their lives due to high altitude sickness during the period of the fiscal year 2025/26.

Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Samikshya Kandel, shared that one person died of high altitude sickness in the month of Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September), one in Asoj (mid-September to mid-October), three in Kartik (mid-October to mid-November), two in Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December), two in Chaitra (mid-December to mid-January) and three others in Jestha (mid-January to mid-February). They were between 50 to 84 years of age, she said.
In the fiscal year 2024/25, nine people including five Indians, three Nepalis and one American had lost their lives due to high altitude sickness.
Physically disabled persons, senior citizens and patients with chronic diseases remain at high-risk of high-altitude sickness.
