KATHMANDU, March 26: Newly elected members of the House of Representatives (HoR) will take the oath of office and secrecy today at 2:00 PM. The Federal Parliament Secretariat has said that all preparations for the ceremony have been completed.
Senior-most member of the HoR, Arjun Narasingh KC, will administer the oath, according to Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri. President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to KC on Wednesday.
The oath-taking ceremony will be held at the newly constructed multipurpose hall in Singha Durbar. According to the Secretariat, 47 members are preparing to take the oath in languages other than Nepali, including 17 in Maithili.

The oath will be administered in accordance with Articles 99 and 91(5) of the Constitution of Nepal and Section 75 of the House of Representatives Members Election Act, 2017.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat has requested members to be present at least two hours before the scheduled time, carrying their certificate of election issued by the Election Commission, a copy of their citizenship certificate, and two copies of a recent passport-sized photograph. Members have also been requested to attend in formal attire or in attire representing their cultural identity.
Necessary arrangements, including seating, a rostrum, the Speaker’s chair, and designated areas for the Secretary General, secretaries, and Secretariat officials, have been made at the venue.
In the HoR election held on March 5, the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured 182 seats, Nepali Congress 38, CPN (UML) 25, Nepali Communist Party 17, Shram Sanskriti Party seven, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party five.
