KATHMANDU, June 11: A total of 2,223 drivers were booked for traffic rule violations across the Kathmandu Valley in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 1.88 million in revenue for the state, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.
Among those penalized, 94 drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, while 150 were booked for operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations. Similarly, 177 motorists were fined for traffic signal violations and 118 for speeding.

Likewise, 61 drivers were penalized for not maintaining lane discipline, 154 for honking in prohibited zones, 98 for illegal roadside parking, and 120 for driving on one-way roads. An additional 1,251 drivers were booked for various other traffic offences.
Traffic police said the enforcement drive was aimed at improving road discipline and reducing violations across the valley.
