KATHMANDU, Sept 17: Sixty-three people from Jumla district remain missing nearly three weeks after devastating floods swept through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridor on August 26.
According to Jumla Chief District Officer Tej Prakash Prasai, 93 people from the district were initially reported missing. Of them, 30 have since made contact, while the whereabouts of the remaining 63 are still unknown.

Patarasi Rural Municipality accounts for the highest number of missing people, with 49 residents still unaccounted for. According to local resident Bhakta Budha, they went missing from Hankubensi in Rasuwa.
The rural municipality has provided the first phase of relief to the families of those missing. Rural municipality Chairman Purna Singh Bohora said each family has received Rs 41,000, including Rs 30,000 in immediate relief and Rs 11,000 contributed by donors.
Food supplies have also been provided to the affected families, according to rural municipality Vice-Chairperson Janmaya Rokaya.
Meanwhile, a relief fund of Rs 577,000 was collected under the leadership of local resident Jangabir Bohora. Together with Rs 1.477 million provided by the rural municipality, a total of Rs 2.047 million is currently available for relief, according to the rural municipality.
