The company said the project is now technically capable of generating its full 111 MW capacity after a new gate system was installed to filter river water before it enters the tunnel. However, electricity generation has been limited to 74 MWfollowing instructions from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) due to low domestic power demand.
The flood caused an estimated Rs 3.5 billion in damage to the project. Officials said most of the project's infrastructure is underground, reducing the risk from landslides, and additional measures are being taken to strengthen external structures for long-term safe operation.
