KATHMANDU, July 12: Nepal registered its second consecutive victory in the ACC Women's U-19 Premier Cup, cruising to a dominant 151-run win over Singapore in Malaysia.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Nepal posted a formidable 199 without loss in its allotted 20 overs. Openers Sana Praveen and Sabitri Dhami laid the foundation with an unbeaten 199-run opening partnership, putting Singapore's bowlers under pressure from the outset.
Praveen narrowly missed a century, remaining unbeaten on 98 off 70 balls, including 13 fours. Dhami scored an unbeaten 78 off 53 deliveries, striking 13 fours to register her second successive half-century of the tournament.
Nepal secures place in semi-finals of ACC U19 Premier Cup
Chasing a daunting target of 200, Singapore struggled throughout its innings and finished on 48/8 in 20 overs. Ankita Varsha Raj top-scored with 19 runs, while the rest of the batting lineup failed to make a significant contribution.
For Nepal, Anu Kadayat produced an economical spell, claiming 3 wickets for 4 runs in four overs. Manisha Upadhyay and Riya Sharma took two wickets each as Singapore's innings collapsed.
Nepal had also secured a comfortable victory over Qatar in its opening match. With two wins from two matches, the team has strengthened its position in the tournament standings.
Nepal will next face Hong Kong on Tuesday, aiming to secure another victory and further strengthen its chances of reaching the semifinals.
