KATHMANDU, June 2: The government has promoted Deputy Inspector General of Police Anjani Kumar Pokharel to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG) of the Armed Police Force (APF).
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday decided to promote DIG Pokharel to the vacant AIG position, officials said. The recommendation had been made a week earlier by the promotion committee.

The post had fallen vacant after Narayan Dutt Paudel was promoted to Inspector General of the Armed Police Force. Following that vacancy, Pokharel was selected for the elevation to AIG.
The promotion fills a key leadership position within the APF hierarchy, according to official sources.
