KATHMANDU, July 22: Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF) has made public its annual performance report for Sunsari district, stating that it seized smuggled goods worth more than Rs 300.33 million during the fiscal year 2025/26.
According to the No. 1 Baraha Brigade Headquarters in Sunsari, APF units and subordinate offices confiscated contraband and illegally exported goods worth Rs 300,333,849 as part of year-long border security and anti-smuggling operations.
The seized items, including garments, food products and other illegally imported goods, were handed over to the concerned customs and revenue offices, APF Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shailendra Thapa said.

During the same period, the APF also recovered two pistols, one magazine, four rounds of ammunition and two muzzle-loading firearms, and detained two individuals in connection with weapons-related offenses before handing them over to the concerned authorities for legal action.
As part of its anti-drug operations, the force arrested 193 people—including 181 men and 12 women. The confiscated narcotics included around 1.123 kilograms of brown sugar, 10,773 kilograms of marijuana, and pharmaceutical drugs such as Spasmo Proxyvon, Tramadol, Nitrazepam, Dylux DC, Lupigesic, Phenergan, Nitrogen, Avil and Diazepam.
In its anti-human trafficking campaign, the APF arrested 19 people, including 18 men and one woman. It also rescued 23 women, two men and 13 children, who were later handed over to the concerned agencies for protection and rehabilitation.
The APF said it also conducted community outreach programs under its “Armed Police with Border Residents” initiative in border areas and organized anti-drug awareness campaigns targeting community groups, clubs and educational institutions.
As part of efforts to curb illegal extraction of riverbed materials, the force seized 104 tractors, three tipper trucks and five excavators (JCBs) and handed them over to the relevant authorities.
In wildlife and forest crime operations, the APF confiscated one rhino horn, one deer antler and 2,333 cubic feet of timber of various species. Two people were arrested in connection with these cases.
Under its environmental conservation initiative, APF units planted 6,846 fruit and other saplings across various locations in Koshi Province during the fiscal year.
