KATHMANDU, Nov 29: Only around 12 percent of the listed hydropower companies have announced dividends to their shareholders out of their profits of the last fiscal year (FY).

According to Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), only 12 out of 97 listed hydropower companies have announced their dividends as of mid-November, the end of the four months of the current FY. As per the government rules, the public limited companies need to declare their annual general meetings and their dividends by the second quarter of every FY. However, a number of hydropower companies have failed to conduct even their annual general meetings for years.
