KATHMANDU, May 15: The annual report of the Auditor General for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS has been submitted to President Ram Chandra Paudel.
At a programme held at Sheetal Niwas on Friday, Auditor General Toyam Raya presented the report to President Paudel.
On the occasion, President Paudel expressed concern over the rising volume of irregularities in government expenditure, saying it reflects weakening public accountability, transparency, and financial discipline in public institutions.

He said public officials must become more responsible to ensure the settlement of audit irregularities and strengthen financial discipline.
“If irregular expenditures are controlled and financial discipline is maintained, it will help fulfill the aspirations of the younger generation for sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity,” he said.
The President further noted that issues raised in the report would help enhance accountability among concerned agencies and stakeholders.
He stressed the need to reduce irregular government spending and maintain financial discipline, accountability, and transparency, adding that the Office of the Auditor General should play a key role in this process.
President Paudel also said the office must further strengthen its institutional capacity, professional skills, and internal governance to improve its effectiveness in the coming days.
