KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) senior leader Balendra Shah (Balen) has urged his supporters to stay calm as he landed in Janakpur to address the party’s mass rally on Monday.
In his brief address to his supporters, Shah, who reached Janakpur along with RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, urged them to maintain peace. His request came after a huge crowd gathered to welcome him at the airport left the area near the airport uncontrolled on Sunday evening, resulting in the shattering of a glass door through which supporters tried to reach him.

Thanking all his well-wishers for turning out in large numbers, Shah said he was happy and touched by their support. He had cut short his address stating that discussions with district security officials were necessary to finalize arrangements for Monday’s program.
Shah officially joined RSP on Sunday after resigning from the post of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) mayor. “For today, please remain calm and do not panic. Let us all meet tomorrow at the program venue,” Shah told his supporters.
The RSP is scheduled to hold a public program at Tirhutiya Gachhi in Janakpurdham on Monday.
