LAMJUNG, Sept 18: The Besisahar-Chame road has been opened for traffic from today. The road was blocked since Wednesday morning due to a landslide.

According to Nabin Bista, the information officer of the Dumre–Besisahar–Chame road project, the road has been operational since this morning after the Nepali Army cleared the road using explosives to blast boulders brought by the landslide in Khotre, Naso Rural Municipality-3 of Manang.

Bista said that big boulders had fallen along with the landslide in Khotre. One of those stones was really huge. After the road was blocked, explosive was used on Thursday to blast the huge rock. Since the first explosion didn't completely break it down, today another explosion was carried out to shatter the boulder and clear the landslide.

Small vehicles have started operating as soon as the road opened. Travel toward Manang has become easier for passengers since the road is in operation. Officer Bista said it will still take some time to bring large vehicles into operation.
