BHARATPUR, May 19: The Bharatpur Metropolitan City has begun removing and reorganizing unmanaged electrical and communication cables hanging from utility poles in urban areas within the city.

The campaign was launched following discussions involving the metropolitan office, the District Administration Office, and representatives of service providers.

According to engineer Suresh Bot, internet service providers have started managing and removing their own cables, while municipal police teams are assisting in the cleanup and coordination process.

“The work is being carried out under the leadership of the metropolis to remove unmanaged wires and make the poles clean and organized,” Bot said.

Acting Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari said the decision was taken after coordination meetings with local authorities, instructing internet and utility service providers to remove unnecessary or tangled wiring.

He warned that cables left unmanaged would be removed by municipal authorities if service providers fail to act promptly.

The cleanup drive, which began on May 10, is ongoing and aims to improve urban safety and reduce visual clutter caused by excessive and disorganized overhead wiring in Bharatpur.
