Addressing a farewell ceremony organised at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu three days ahead of his departure to Beijing upon completing his term, Ambassador Chen said he thoroughly enjoyed his time in Nepal and developed a deep emotional connection with the country and its people.

Recalling his travels across the country, Ambassador Chen said Nepal’s quiet villages and temples left a lasting impression on him. He noted that beyond the country’s natural beauty, it was the warmth, kindness, diligence and encouragement of the Nepalese people that he would miss the most. “It’s not just the beautiful landscapes that I will miss, but also the people who make them so special,” he said, expressing gratitude for the support he received from all sections of Nepalese society.

Thanking friends, colleagues and well-wishers, the ambassador said many had walked with him, shared advice and warmly welcomed him throughout his tenure. Acknowledging that he had made mistakes along the way, he also expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding shown to him.

Emphasising the progress in bilateral relations, Ambassador Chen said that no matter where he is in the future, he would remain committed to advancing China-Nepal relations. “We are cheerful at every step forward in our relations,” he said.

He further pledged to continue supporting cooperation in areas such as education and sports and to help address any challenges in bilateral engagement. Ambassador Chen also thanked the diplomatic community in Nepal, saying their friendship had made his stay richer and more enjoyable.

Extending special appreciation to the Chinese community in Nepal, he said they had been like a family to him and would always hold a special place in his heart.

Ambassador Chen also wished the people of Nepal peace, development and prosperity and expressed hope that the China-Nepal friendship across the Himalayas would remain everlasting. As he prepares to leave Nepal on Wednesday, he also extended early New Year greetings to all present at the ceremony.
