CHITWAN, March 22: The Chitwan District Police Office has restarted the 'Ghumau Chitwan (Let Us Visit Chitwan)' programme, which aims to promote domestic tourism by rotating police officers working within the district from one place to another.
The programme, which had been halted due to the Gen Z movement and elections, has been resumed.
It is believed that the programme will help promote domestic tourism with police personnel working in different parts of the district visiting different locations within the district and enjoying the tourist destinations there.

The police have been conducting programmes such as managing stress, carrying out creative and recreational activities, fostering brotherhood, sharing experiences, and promoting tourism.
According to Chief of the District Police Office, Superintendent Govinda Puri, programmes conducted to give the police some rest and to promote domestic tourism have included activities such as boat rides, rafting, and hiking.
He also stated that police personnel are also encouraged in different tourism activities within Chitwan National Park. According to Superintendent of Police Puri, police persons are urged to even visit neighbouring districts to enjoy local tourist attractions, participate in various activities, and gain knowledge.
SP Puri said that this programme, conducted on a rotational basis, directly benefited the police personnel. According to him, the programme, started about a year ago, helps the police refresh themselves and gain appropriate geographical knowledge when they are transferred from one place to another.
There are 900 police officers working under the District Police Office in Chitwan. The police are providing services in 73 units across the district, including the District Traffic Police Office and the eight Area Police Offices.
