KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Dr CK Raut has filed his candidacy for chairperson of the Janamat Party at the party’s second general convention.
The party’s Central Election Committee on Friday published the preliminary list of candidates contesting various positions.
According to the committee, a total of 103 candidates have filed nominations for different positions. Fourteen candidates are contesting the vice-chairperson posts, three for general secretary, two for national deputy general secretary and 10 for national secretary.
Similarly, 73 candidates have filed nominations for central executive committee member.
The preliminary list includes Basanta Kumar Kushwaha, Anita Sah, Anita Mandal, Dr Jayakant Raut, Narendra Prasad Chaudhary, Madhav Prasad Singh, Raj Kumar Yadav (Tyagi), Dr Kamrullah Ansari, Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Madan Mohan Chaudhary, Parmeshwar Murmu, Roshan Khatun, Harpal Singh Sodi and Manohari Devi Baitha for vice-chairperson.
Efforts being made to bring Janamat Party back to govt
Mamta Jha, Chandan Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar Yadav are contesting for general secretary, while Nirmal Kumar Mandal and Lalit Chandra Malik have filed nominations for national deputy general secretary.
Candidates for national secretary are Santosh Kumar Sahani, Surendra Sharma Madhesi, Harendra Chaudhary, Anjuneti Devi, Rohit Mahato, Paras Prasad Sah, Radha Kumari Yadav, Bal Govinda Chaudhary, Birendra Mahato (Jeevan Tyagi) and Rambabu Sah.
According to the election schedule, objections to the preliminary candidate list can be filed from 10 am to 5 pm on September 19. Candidates can withdraw their nominations between 10 am and 5 pm on September 20. The final candidate list will be published on September 21.
The second general convention of the Janamat Party is scheduled to be held in Birgunj on September 26.
