KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Nepal remains under the influence of monsoon winds sweeping in from the Bay of Bengal, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
This afternoon, skies are expected to stay generally cloudy nationwide. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at many places in the hilly and terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and at some locations in the remaining provinces.
Heavy rain likely in some parts of the country
The MFD has issued warnings of heavy rainfall in parts of the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki, as well as in isolated areas of the terai in Lumbini Province. Very heavy rainfall is also expected at one or two locations in the hilly and terai belts of Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
By nightfall, conditions are forecast to be mostly cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and generally cloudy elsewhere. Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is likely across much of the hilly and terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki, at several places in Lumbini, and at a few locations in the other provinces.
The MFD has cautioned that heavy to very heavy downpours could hit some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, along with isolated parts of the terai in Madhesh and Lumbini, urging the public to remain alert.
