CHITWAN, July 13: A central server outage has disrupted license-related services at the Transport Management Office (TMO) in Chitwan for the past five days, causing delays in services including the issuance of new licenses and license renewals.
The office said work has been affected since Thursday as the server has been operating irregularly. With services halted, customers who arrived early in the morning for license-related work were forced to wait throughout the day before returning empty-handed.
Amrit Adhikari, head of the TMO, Chitwan, said the office has been unable to provide services due to problems with the central system.

“The server has been down from the center for four days. It is not operational today either,” he said. “The problem is not with our office; customers are suffering due to a disruption at the central level.”
According to him, the server briefly became operational on Sunday. However, no work could be carried out as it was a public holiday.
The office said the problem has worsened because the server outage occurred in mid-July, a period when the number of customers visiting the office to pay vehicle taxes, renew licenses and complete other administrative tasks increases significantly.
Meanwhile, customers have been speculating that the outage may be linked to discussions about increased vehicle taxes and fees coming into effect from July 17.
Rajendra Dhungana claimed that some customers suspect the server may have been deliberately shut down before the tax hike was implemented.
The office said it has not received any clear information from the central authorities about when the server will resume operations.
“We have not even been able to issue a notice announcing the suspension of services,” the office said. “The number of customers arriving here has been overwhelming.”
