KALIKOT, July 3: Authorities have identified one person who died and four others who remain missing after a passenger vehicle plunged into the Karnali River in Dailekh on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Jokhe Tiruwa of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality-9, Kalikot. He was rescued unconscious from a cliff and taken to Dullu Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The missing passengers have been identified as Mekhe Tiruwa of Pachaljharana-9, Srijana Khadka of Raskot Municipality-2, Kalikot, and driver Ramu Subedi and co-driver Tularam Subedi, both from Panchapuri, Surkhet, according to Raskot Mayor Dharma Raj Shahi, who reached the accident site.
The passenger vehicle, which veered off the Karnali Highway in Dailekh and fell into the Karnali River, has yet to be located. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
