DAO Kathmandu orders NGOs to vacate govt buildings within 7 days

KATHMANDU, June 16:  The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has directed non-governmental and professional organisations operating within government buildings and structures to vacate the premises within seven days.



Issuing an urgent notice, the DAO, Kathmandu, said it had found various professional and technical associations registered under the Institution Registration Act, 1977, operating their offices inside government and public buildings within the district.

The administration has instructed such organisations to shift their offices to private or rented premises within seven days and inform the District Administration Office after relocation.


It has also directed all government offices and public bodies to remove signboards and other structures belonging to such organisations from their premises and ensure that office spaces are cleared.


The notice warns that if any organisation continues to operate from government buildings or public structures beyond the deadline, action will be taken in accordance with prevailing laws.
