KATHMANDU, Sept 12: The death toll from the devastating Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa has climbed to 1,386, with another 4,089 people still missing, according to the latest figures released by Nepal Police.
Of the bodies recovered so far, 1,213 have been buried, while 103 have been handed over to their families. Police have recorded 1,334 unidentified bodies as efforts continue to establish the identities of those killed in the disaster.

Police have collected DNA samples from 3,065 people, including the deceased and their relatives, to assist in the identification process.
Meanwhile, Nepal Police has stepped up public awareness efforts in connection with the disaster, conducting 178 awareness programs attended by 46,840 people, according to the latest police data.
