‘Deepak Manange’ released after serving prison sentence

KATHMANDU, March 11: Rajiv Gurung, widely known as “Deepak Manange” and a former Gandaki Province assembly member, has been released from prison after completing his jail sentence.



Manange, who had been sent to Dillibazar Prison after being convicted in an attempted murder case, was released on Wednesday after serving the remaining portion of his sentence.

The case dates back to May 13, 2004 when he was accused of attacking Milan Gurung, popularly known as “Chakre Milan,” with a khukuri in the Maharajgunj area of Kathmandu.


The court had sentenced him to five years in prison in connection with the case.
