JHAPA, Sept 21: The rate of dengue infection is increasing in Koshi Province. Jhapa district appears to be at the highest risk for dengue.
According to Smriti Luintel, a public health officer at the Koshi Province Health Directorate, 793 people in the province have been confirmed with dengue as of September 19, 2026. The infection has spread across 13 districts in the province.

She said that so far 228 people have tested positive in Jhapa alone. The second most affected district is Sunsari, where 203 people have tested positive.
According to the directorate, 122 people in Okhaldhunga and 82 in Khotang have been infected with dengue. Similarly, 18 people in Sankhuwasabha, 44 in Panchthar, 34 in Udayapur, 31 in Bhojpur, four in Dhankuta, 20 in Morang, three in Solukhumbu, three in Tehrathum, and one in Taplejung, have tested positive for dengue.
Luintel said that 51 potential and two suspected dengue cases were reported in hospitals across different districts during the same period. Considering the increasing risk of infection, she mentioned that it is necessary to run campaigns to search and destroy mosquito breeding sites.
