KATHMANDU, Aug. 3: Today marks the third Monday of Shrawan in the lunar calendar, and devotees are flocking to Shiva temples across the country, including the iconic Pashupatinath Temple.
Every year during the holy month of Shrawan, large numbers of Hindu devotees visit major Shiva temples, especially on Mondays, to offer holy water, belpatra (the sacred trifoliate leaf of the bael tree), and prayers to Lord Shiva.

The Pashupati Area Development Trust has announced that all four gates of the Pashupatinath Temple have been opened to accommodate the influx of devotees. Special arrangements have also been made for participants in the Bol Bam pilgrimage, with four separate queues designated for temple entry.
Besides Pashupatinath, devotees are also queuing at other major Shiva temples in the Kathmandu Valley, including Gokarneshwar, Nageshwar, Doleshwar, Koteshwar, and Makhan Mahadev—often referred to as the "smaller Pashupatinath"—located in the Basantapur Durbar area.
