Dr Shekhar Koirala faction to seek justice through courts against EC ruling

Speaking at a meeting with party leaders on Saturday, Dr Koirala said that as his faction remains in opposition, it will seek justice through the courts rather than resorting to street protests.

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has announced that his faction will reject the Election Commission’s (EC) decision to grant official recognition of the party to the Gagan Thapa-led faction.



Speaking at a meeting with party leaders on Saturday, Dr Koirala said that as his faction remains in opposition, it will seek justice through the courts rather than resorting to street protests.

While the Sher Bahadur Deuba faction has announced plans to mobilise nationwide protests against the EC ruling, Dr Koirala clarified that his group will not take part in any such agitation.


Following discussions with leaders of his faction, Dr Koirala also attended the Deuba faction’s Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Sanepa, where it was decided to challenge the EC decision through constitutional, political, and legal means.
