KATHMANDU, April 12: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel has declared total assets worth over Rs 241.6 million, according to property details made public by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Sunday.
The disclosed assets include land and property, vehicles, gold and silver, bank deposits, and share investments in various companies.
According to the statement, Pokharel owns a two-and-a-half-storey house in Kathmandu valued at Rs 40 million. He also owns six aana of land in Mulpani worth Rs 50 million and one kattha of land in Morang valued at Rs 10 million.

Under family assets, his father owns 4 aana 2 paisa of land in Kathmandu worth around Rs 25 million. His mother, Minakshi Pokharel, owns land in Godawari and Gokarneshwor valued at approximately Rs 30 million. Additionally, the family holds 11 ropani 4 aana of land in Godawari worth Rs 50 million.
The minister has declared ownership of 25 tola of gold and 100 tola of silver, with a combined value of around Rs 7.5 million. He also holds Rs 25,000 in cash. According to his statement, these assets were accumulated through ancestral property, his father’s income, and dowry received from his mother.
In terms of bank savings, he has a total deposit of Rs 448,000 in Sanima Bank and NIC Asia Bank.
The family has also invested Rs 17.7 million in shares across various companies.
Regarding vehicles, the minister's father owns an electric car worth around Rs 7 million, while Pokharel himself owns another car valued at nearly Rs 4 million.
The statement also notes that he has liabilities amounting to Rs 7.5 million.
Overall, including both assets and liabilities, his total declared wealth stands at Rs 241.6 million.
