KATHMANDU, Sept 9: The government has stepped up efforts to restore electricity services disrupted by the Rasuwa floods.
The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation began mobilising available resources and manpower to restore power from the day after the devastating floods on August 26.

With the floods causing extensive damage to electricity infrastructure, the ministry has been using alternative measures to speed up restoration. As part of the effort, electricity service was restored on Tuesday in wards 10 and 11 of Bidur Municipality in flood-affected Nuwakot.
Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha said electricity had also been restored in Tarakeshwar Rural Municipality 4, another area affected by the floods.
According to Minister Shrestha, around 83 percent of electricity services in Rasuwa and 95 percent in Nuwakot have so far been restored.
The government has also begun distributing alternative energy systems in areas that remain without access to electricity. Through the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre, 2 kW solar systems are being provided for community shelters, while individual solar systems are being distributed to households based on their needs.
Shrestha said employees and technical teams from the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre continue to work in flood-affected areas to restore electricity services.
