KATHMANDU, Sept 13: A Nepali film, Tiniharu – Elephants in the Fog, has been selected to represent Nepal at the 99th Academy Awards (Oscars) 2027.
The International Feature Film Selection Committee, Nepal, announced the film’s official selection in a press statement today.

The Committee had received two Nepali films, including Gaunthali, for consideration for the Oscars. Elephants in the Fog was picked as it was judged to meet the Oscar criteria. The panel said it closely assessed the film’s technical aspects, script presentation, emotional depth and artistic features before making its decision.
The Oscars are regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in the world’s film industry.
