MIDHYABINDU, March 17: Construction of an embankment has begun in Susta and Gajendra Mokshadham areas of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) to control erosion caused by the Narayani River.
According to Dr Narayan Subedi of the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project Office Bharatpur, the project is being carried out at an estimated cost of around Rs 170 million. Construction began in the second week of March.

Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Sarita Dawadi, conducted a field inspection on Monday. During the visit, she stated that protecting the Susta area from river erosion is a high government priority.
Project chief Subedi said efforts are underway to complete the construction before the monsoon season, with a temporary field office set up and round-the-clock monitoring in place.
Secretary Dawadi expressed satisfaction with the progress and confidence that the embankment would be completed on time.
