The decision was taken by the FIFA Bureau of the Council on Wednesday under Article 14 of the FIFA Statutes.
With the suspension, ANFA has lost all membership rights granted under Article 13 of the FIFA Statutes.
FIFA stated that, for the duration of the suspension, ANFA's representative teams and affiliated clubs will not be allowed to participate in international competitions.
Similarly, ANFA, its members, and officials will be barred from benefiting from any development programs, training courses, or educational activities organized by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The suspension means that all Nepali football teams, from the national side to club teams, will be ineligible to take part in international tournaments. Funding that ANFA receives from FIFA and AFC will also be halted. In addition, ANFA officials will be excluded from FIFA and AFC development initiatives and capacity-building programs.
According to the letter, the FIFA’s Bureau of the Council or the FIFA Council may lift the suspension at any time before the next FIFA Congress if the required conditions are met.
