KATHMANDU, June 28: Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane scored in the second half as England secured top spot in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Panama.
England sealed the group title with the win at New Jersey Stadium in New York.
Kane named England captain for World Cup
Bellingham broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute, giving England the lead. Kane doubled the advantage five minutes later, and neither side managed another goal as England comfortably closed out the match.
Croatia beat Ghana, both teams advance to knockout stage
Croatia defeated Ghana 2-1 in another Group L match on Sunday to book a place in the knockout stage.
Petar Sučić put Croatia ahead in the 31st minute. Ghana equalized in the 73rd minute through Derrick Luckassen, but Nikola Vlašić restored Croatia's lead with the winner in the 83rd minute.
The victory saw Croatia finish second in Group L with six points from two wins and one defeat.
Ghana ended third with four points after one win, one draw, and one loss. The four-point tally was enough for Ghana to qualify for the knockout stage as one of the tournament's best third placed teams.
