KATHMANDU, July 2: Police have arrested five foreign women from the Thamel area of Kathmandu on allegations of engaging in obscene activities and misbehaving with police.
A police team deployed from the Lainchaur Police Circle arrested and made public the five women on Wednesday after they were found allegedly involved in such activities in the tourist hub of Thamel. Those arrested include four Ugandan nationals and one Indonesian national.

Spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, said they were arrested after allegedly stopping both domestic and foreign male tourists on the streets of Thamel-26 and bargaining to engage in sexual activities, causing inconvenience to pedestrians.
He said the women behaved indecently with police personnel when officers attempted to counsel them after their arrest.
Further investigation into the case is underway, Bhattarai said.
