KATHMANDU, July 26: Floods, landslides and river erosion have disrupted traffic on several major highways and road sections across Nepal.
According to Nepal Police, restrictions on nighttime traffic remain in place on the BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli. To reduce the risk of possible flooding, all types of vehicles are prohibited from operating on the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi road section between 6:00 pm and 4:00 am.

Nighttime traffic has also been suspended on the Kanti Highway until further notice. All vehicles are barred from using the road between 5:00 pm and 5:00 am during the monsoon season.
Police Headquarters said the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality Ward No. 9 has been completely blocked after mud accumulated on the roadway.
Similarly, the Araniko Highway has been fully blocked by landslides at Jiro Kilo in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality Ward No. 4 and Kodari in Ward No. 2 of Sindhupalchok.
Traffic on parts of the Lamosangu, Ramechhap Highway has also been disrupted after the Sunkoshi River eroded sections of the road. Police said an alternative route has been opened through the premises of the Khimti Rural Electric Cooperative.
A landslide has also blocked the Trishuli, Mailung, and Syafrubesi unpaved road section along the Pasang Lhamu Highway.
In Mustang, the Jomsom-Korala road has been completely blocked after the water level of the Ghyakar Khola rose in Baragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality Ward No. 3.
Police said the Department of Roads and local authorities are working to reopen the blocked road sections.
