FM Khanal and his Indian counterpart Jaishankar reaffirm commitment to deepen Nepal-India ties

KATHMANDU, April 10: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal held a bilateral meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Port Louis, Mauritius, on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.



FM Khanal is currently in Mauritius to attend the Ninth Indian Ocean Conference (April 10–12). He departed for Port Louis on Thursday.

In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry said the two leaders reviewed the long-standing and multifaceted Nepal–India relations and held constructive, forward-looking discussions on matters of mutual interest.


During the meeting, Jaishankar congratulated Khanal on his appointment as Nepal’s foreign minister.


Both sides expressed a shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.


In a post on X, Jaishankar said he was pleased to meet Khanal and congratulated him on his new role. He noted that the two discussed realising the full potential of the India–Nepal partnership through deeper collaboration across sectors.
