KATHMANDU, May 20: The Supreme Court has ordered the release of former Minister Rajkumar Gupta, who was arrested for accepting a bribe, on a bail of Rs 5 million.
The written order issued by a division bench of Justices Sharanga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel on Tuesday states that former Minister Gupta be released on bail after the bail amount is secured.

The Special Court, Kathmandu, has sent Gupta to judicial custody after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a case against him for allegedly accepting bribes to transfer Land Revenue Officials, when he was the Minister for General Administration.
Meanwhile, the apex court has sought a written response through the Attorney General's Office within 24 hours on the reason behind the arrest of medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai.
A single bench of Justice Mahesh Sharma Poudel on wednesday issued the order in response to a habeas corpus writ petition filed by advocate Ashish Luintel.
