JANAKPURDHAM, July 2: The High Court Janakpur has convicted former Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) Laxmi Mahato Koiri, suspended Madhesh Province Assembly member Abhiram Sharma, and others on the charge of killing Nepal Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Thaman BK.
Acting Chief Judge of the High Court Janakpur Tek Narayan Kunwar and Judge Murari Babu Shrestha handed down the verdict, sentencing former MP Mahato, suspended province assembly member Sharma, and four other convicts to five years in prison.

The court also sentenced Dharmendra Ray, Ramshankar Mishra, Suresh Pandey, and Pawan Kapar to five years in prison.
Furthermore, the court sentenced defendants Pradip Sah Majhi, Sanjay Kumar Sah, and Mohan Thakur to life imprisonment in the same case, according to the court's Information Officer Ganesh Pandey.
Previously, the Mahottari District Court had acquitted former MP Mahato and Pawan Kapar, while sentencing Sah Majhi, Sah, and Thakur to life imprisonment about two and a half years ago, Information Officer Pandey said.
ASI BK of Nepal Police was beaten to death in 2015 during the Madhesh Movement.
