France captain Kylian Mbappé scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot in the 70th minute. France were awarded the penalty after Paraguay fouled Désiré Doué inside the box.
The goal was Mbappé's seventh of the tournament, drawing him level with Lionel Messi at the top of the World Cup scoring charts.
France will now face Morocco in the quarterfinals after Morocco secured their place with a victory over Canada in the Round of 16. The winner of that match advanced to set up the last eight showdown against France.
