The construction company had halted work, citing non-payment issues linked to the budget shortfall.

With the provincial government releasing Rs 90 million, work has now restarted, Bharatpur Metropolitan City (BMC) engineer Adarsh Pokharel said.
BMC Division Engineer Santosh Acharya confirmed that outstanding payments have been cleared as per submitted bills, allowing construction to move forward again.
The stadium is being built by Himalaya Kalinchowk BBR JV. Around 55 percent of the project has been completed so far, while the current contract deadline is set for January 6, 2027.
BMC and the construction company had signed a Rs 755.09 million contract in mid-July 2024 for the completion of the project.
The project was retendered after the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation failed to complete the earlier phase of construction.
