KATHMANDU, May 12: Gen Z activist Tanuja Pandey has sharply criticized Prime Minister Balendra Shah, saying he no longer has the freedom to behave in a “ruffian-like manner".
Taking to social media amid growing debate over the prime minister walking out of Parliament during the presentation of the government’s policies and programs, Pandey urged Shah to treat politics with greater responsibility and dignity.
“Make politics a matter of responsibility and dignity. If you don’t know how, then learn. You no longer have the freedom to behave like a ruffian,” she wrote.

Pandey also questioned whether Shah was acting as “Prime Minister Balendra” or as "Balen", whom she accused of thriving on cheap popularity.
“If you are Prime Minister Balendra, then learn to respect public mandate, even if only a little. Parliament and the state system are not run through swagger, but through law and decorum,” she said.
Arguing that Shah’s exit from the parliamentary meeting while the President was presenting the government’s policies and programs prepared under his own leadership was inappropriate, Pandey said the act amounted to an insult to the head of state, people’s representatives, and public mandate, as well as his own party and government.
She further stressed that no one, including the prime minister, has the right to undermine parliamentary decorum, public mandate, and the dignity of the presidential institution.
“No one has the right to attack parliamentary decorum, public mandate, and the dignity of the presidential institution — not even the prime minister,” she said.
