Govt announces to provide project shares to local people from affected areas

The government has announced to achieve the target of 30,000 megawatts of electricity production in the next 10 years through simplifying the legal provisions that appear as the main obstacles to accomplish the task.

KATHMANDU, May 11: The government has announced to achieve the target of 30,000 megawatts of electricity production in the next 10 years through simplifying the legal provisions that appear as the main obstacles to accomplish the task.  



Presenting the Policies and Programs of the government on Monday, President Ram Chandra Paudel said the government will amend the laws related to energy, forests, land and environment to achieve the set target of energy production. “The laws related to energy, forests, land and environment will be amended and a single-door system will be implemented for this purpose,” said President Paudel.

Paudel also mentioned that residents of the project-affected areas will be given the option of investing in shares instead of money in compensation.
