Assistant Chief District Officer Muktiram Rijal said the removal of illegal structures is also continuing in the Swayambhu area of Ward 15. “Illegal structures are being removed in Swayambhu, Balaju–Gongabu Bus Park, Devenagar and other areas,” he said.
The government had already cleared high-risk settlements in Balkhu and Kalimati on Friday, marking an escalation of the campaign in recent days.
According to officials, nearly 2,000 houses and huts built illegally on encroached government, public and private land across the Kathmandu Valley have been removed so far.
Affected families have been shifted to holding centres, while officials from the Urban Development Ministry are collecting data of landless families at Dasarath Stadium in Tripureshwor as part of post-eviction management.
