KATHMANDU, April 27: The government has directed authorities to relocate students from squatter settlements to nearby schools to ensure continuity in their education.
Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel issued a six-point circular focusing on the safety and facilitation of students affected by the relocation of informal settlements.
Following the directive, the Education and Human Resource Development Center (EHDC) has instructed local governments to effectively manage examinations, coordinate school adjustments in affected areas and ensure smooth transitions for displaced students.
Govt neglects relocation of risky settlements
The EHDC has urged all local levels to facilitate the transfer of affected students to accessible schools when settlements are cleared.
Special arrangements have also been requested for students appearing in the Grade 12 examinations starting today, including ensuring their access to examination centers. In areas where schools have been directly affected, authorities have been asked to make alternative arrangements.
The ministry has further asked local bodies to report any grievances, issues or suggestions related to students and schools impacted by the relocation process.
