Govt doubles nutrition allowance for dalit children to Rs 1,000 per month

Previously, eligible children had been receiving Rs 500 per month under the nutrition support program. The government has now increased the benefit by an additional Rs 500, bringing the total monthly allowance to Rs 1,000.

KATHMANDU, May 29: The government has announced an increase in the monthly nutrition allowance provided to Dalit children, doubling the amount to Rs 1,000 under the new fiscal year budget.



Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the budget for fiscal year 2026/27 on Friday.


Previously, eligible children had been receiving Rs 500 per month under the nutrition support program. The government has now increased the benefit by an additional Rs 500, bringing the total monthly allowance to Rs 1,000.
