JANAKPURDHAM, July 17: The government has directed individuals and institutions occupying ponds and pond embankments under Rajguthi within Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City to clear the encroachments within seven days.
The Implementation Committee for the 2005 High-Level Task Force Report on Guthi Land Protection and Management issued a public notice ordering the removal of unauthorized structures from Bishara Pokhari, Dasharath Talau, Argaja Sar, Ratna Sagar Pokhari, Murali Sar, Dirghika Sar, Goddhoi Pokhari and other water bodies and their embankments.

According to the committee, several individuals and organizations have illegally constructed structures and occupied land belonging to the Guthi around these ponds.
The committee said the notice was issued to protect public property and Guthi land.
It warned that legal action would be initiated against those who fail to remove the encroachments within the stipulated deadline.
The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation said it has intensified the implementation of recommendations made by previous commissions and task forces, including efforts to protect encroached Guthi land, ponds and other public property in the Janakpur area.
