Govt sacks NEA Chief Shakya, appoints Deputy Manoj Silwal in his post

The government has removed Hitendra Dev Shakya, the executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) from his position.

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The government has removed Hitendra Dev Shakya, the executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) from his position.



The cabinet meeting held on Sunday decided to replace Shakya with NEA’s Deputy Executive Director Manoj Silwal. Ghising held a one-on-one talk with Shakya on Sunday morning.

Earlier, the KP Oli led government relieved Kulman Ghising from the topmost position of the NEA in March following a dispute between Ghising and the then Energy Minister Deepak Khadka over unpaid dues by industrialists. The government then reappointed Shakya at the expense of Ghising.
