KATHMANDU, June 6: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) last week charged six firms based in the Kathmandu Valley with a cash penalty totaling Rs 446,000.
The market monitoring teams mobilized by the DoCSCP cross checked 44 firms. Out of them, the Kathmandu Fun Park located in Bhrikutimandap of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31 was fined Rs 205,000.

Likewise, Lotus Overseas in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-2 of Bhaktapur was fined Rs 50,000, Town Boys and Girls Hostel in Dhobighat, Lalitpur Metropolitan -1 was fined Rs 50,000 and Blue Fox Restaurant in Jawalakhel of Lalitpur Metropolitan-13 was fined Rs 20,000. Shankhamul-based Eleven Eleven Group was fined Rs 51,000 and Naya Baneshwar-based Redolence Nepal Pvt Ltd faced a cash penalty of Rs 50,000.
Similarly, Shambhala Home Pvt Ltd and Cold and Hot Spicy Noodles in Bouddha of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6 were fined Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000, respectively.
The department’s records show that the market monitoring teams fined Mob Dilz in Chabahil of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-7, Ganesh Motor Bike Workshop in Buddhanagar of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10 and A-One Nutrition Supplement and Sports Gear in Radhe Radhe of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-9 of Bhaktapur were fined Rs 5,000 each.
According to the department, the firms faced actions in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act 2018 and the Consumer Protection Regulations 2019.
