KATHMANDU, May 8: Shram Sanskriti Party Chairperson and Member of Parliament Harka Sampang has expressed regret over his party’s deputy speaker signing a decision related to the appointment of the Chief Justice, which he claims violated the established order of seniority.
In a statement, Sampang said that during the decision-making process, various external issues—including references to agreements such as MCC and SPP—were brought in, allegedly creating pressure and influence on the process.

He criticized the deputy speaker from his own party for endorsing a decision that, according to him, disregarded the official seniority ranking, calling the act “regrettable.”
Sampang also described the government’s move as a mistake and an attack on the rule of law, arguing that such actions cannot be justified.
He further objected to the appointment of a Chief Justice from the fourth position in the seniority list, calling it a serious procedural error and accusing the government of bypassing parliamentary processes through the ordinance on the Constitutional Council.
