KATHMANDU, June 15: Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta held a courtesy meeting with German Ambassador to Nepal Udo Volz and Barbara Schäfer, Head of the South Asia Division and Development at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation, at the ministry in Singha Durbar on Monday.
According to the ministry’s Deputy Spokesperson Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari and Minister Mehta’s secretariat, the meeting focused on the long-standing and close relations between Nepal and Germany, particularly cooperation in the health sector.
During the meeting, Minister Mehta appreciated Germany’s support to Nepal’s health sector through infrastructure development, digital health initiatives, and various development projects. She also thanked the German government for its continued assistance in strengthening Nepal’s health services.

On the occasion, Ambassador Volz and South Asia Division Head Schäfer reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to continuing support, cooperation, and partnership in the priority sectors identified by the Government of Nepal.
Representatives and heads of German organizations working in Nepal, including KfW, GIZ, and PTI/PTB, were also present at the meeting.
