KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Monsoon winds continue to influence weather across Nepal, with the monsoon low pressure line currently around its average position, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The country is generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain occurring in parts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, a few places in Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim, and one or two places in Madhes Province.
This afternoon, the country will remain generally cloudy. Some Himalayan areas may receive moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning. Many hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and some hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, are also likely to receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning.

Some parts of the Terai in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and a few areas of the Terai in Madhes and Koshi provinces, may receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Heavy rain is possible at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, generally cloudy conditions will persist nationwide. Some Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and a few Himalayan areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim, may receive moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning.
Some hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, along with a few hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim, may also receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning. Moderate rain is possible in parts of the Terai in Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and in a few areas of the Sudurpaschim Terai.
Heavy rain is again possible at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
The department has urged people in areas likely to receive heavy rain to remain alert to possible debris flows, floods, landslides and soil erosion. Rainfall could disrupt daily life as well as agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road and air transport. Authorities and the public have been advised to follow weather updates closely.
